Competitive Swimming

National

Selection is based on the perceived ability of the athlete to perform at the National and International level. Full commitment to the training and competition schedule, including training camps, is expected of all athletes at this level. A minimum of Senior Provincial, Age Group National or Junior Provincial standard is required.

National Development

Commitment to the training and competition schedule of this group is very important. Athletes will focus on advanced skills development, race tactics and strategies. A minimum of Regional level performance times is required.

Youth

This group is for athletes who are willing to commit to the training program of 6 sessions per week and the introduction of dry land training. Focus will be on progressive skill development and improvement of race tactics.
Age: 13 and over.

Junior Gold & Junior Blue

This level of swimming is divided into two groups. Although the training time is identical, Junior Gold is for the athlete who has demonstrated a commitment to train 5 times per week, this level will have a higher development of skill and more exposure to competitive experiences. Junior Blue is for the swimmer who has demonstrated the willingness to train 5 times per week and who has graduated from our Olympic Way program. Focus at this level is on more progressive skill development and the introduction of race tactics.
Age: 13 and under.

Olympic Way Gold

This group’s focus is similar to Olympic Way Blue and / or White but is for the developing athlete who is a little older and ready to progress from 2 to 3 swimming sessions per week.
Age: 12 and under.

Olympic Way Blue & Olympic Way White

This is our introduction to COBRA’s competitive program, from our lesson programs and tryouts we conduct. Coaches focus on skill development, proper technique of all 4 strokes including kicking, pulling, body position and the introduction of competition.
Age: 10 and under.
