2011 Canadian Summer National Championships
Qualified COBRA swimmers Sophie Cieplucha, Brooke Hall, Esther Haines, Victoria Thicke-Rattray, Paige Hall and Stefano Gardiman also attended the 2011 Long Course Senior Summer Nationals swim meet. The event was held in Pointe Claire, Quebec from July 21st to the 24th. Sophie Cieplucha completed the weekend as a consolation finalist in the 400 individual medley. Brooke Hall was a consolation finalist in the 200m fly and Esther Haines was a consolation finalist in the 400 individual medley and the 400m freestyle. Victoria Thicke-Rattray was also a consolation finalist in the 200m individual medley.

COBRA Swimmers Wrap Up Season with Wins at 2011 Canadian National Age Group Championships
COBRA swimmers attended the 2011 Canadian Age Group Swimming Championships in Montreal, Quebec July 27th to the 31st. The athletes had exceptional performances throughout the weekend. Congratulations to all swimmers, and the COBRA coaching staff for once again preparing the athletes for excellence.

COBRA Swimmers Win at 2011 Central Regional Long Course Championships
The COBRA Swim Club hosted the 2011 Long Course Central Regional Championships at the Etobicoke Olympium on June 9th to the 12th. The three-day swim meet included swimmers from various clubs across the region. Brampton’s COBRA swimmers once again commanded the meet finishing with top performances and best overall times. Congratulations to all the athletes and to the coaching staff for participating in a memorable weekend. Here are your Central Regional Championship winners for the 2011 long course season.
10-year-old Hannah Longpre kicked off the weekend finishing with a silver medal in the 200m individual medley. 12-year-old Vivianna Choi captured gold in the 200m breaststroke and the 400m individual medley. In the male 12-year-old category Andrew Beals finished with gold in the 800m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m butterfly. 13-year-old Sara Mcleod finished with two silver medals in the 100m and 200m butterfly. In the girls 14-year-old category Anyssa Walani collected silver in the 100m butterfly. Nimrata Virk also earned silver in the 200m butterfly and Isabelle Francoeur attained a third place bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle.
The 15 year old boys triumphed at the meet beginning with Christopher Manson finishing 1st in the 200m individual medley and 3rd in the 100m butterfly. Creighton Thicke-Rattray secured three silver medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle and in the 200m individual medley. The final winners of the weekend were 16 year old Danielle Ranieri who earned two silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke and finally 17 year old Alex Kyriacopoulos brought home two bronze medals in the 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

COBRA Swimmers Exceed at Age Group International Swim Meet
COBRA’s top performing athletes recently attended the 2011 Age Group International long course swim meet held in Etobicoke the weekend of June 2nd, 2011. Of 43 teams that attended the three day event, the Brampton COBRA Swim Club concluded the weekend finishing in an outstanding 6th place overall. Congratulations to the coaching staff and the athletes that took part in the event. The following are your top finishers in their individual age group category.
12 year old Cierra Glysz began COBRA’s winning streak with three 1st place finishes in the 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley. She captured a 2nd place in the 100m freestyle and a 3rd in the 100m butterfly. 12-year-old Hayley Lineham also captured silver in the 200m butterfly and 12-year-old Tessa Cieplucha received a bronze in the 400m individual medley. To end the 12-year-old girls winning streak Kiara Seow secured a bronze medal in the 800m freestyle.
14-year-old Paige Hall won gold in the 200m backstroke, silver in the 400m individual medley and a bronze in the 100m backstroke. Bavindeep Basra captured a bronze in the 200m individual medley.
In the boys category 14 year old Danai Sisouphanh finished with two 1st place medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and a 2nd place in the 50m breaststroke. 15-year-old Stefano Gardiman secured two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke.
In the girls 16 and over age group category Brooke Hall finished 2nd in the 200m butterfly and Victoria Thicke-Rattray won gold in the 200m individual medley. Esther Haines completed the wins with silver in the 400m individual medley.

COBRA Swimmers Capture Gold at 2011 Junior Provincial Short Course Championships
The COBRA Swim Club recently attended the 2011 Short Course Junior Provincial Championships hosted by the Nepean Kanata Barracudas. Out of 73 teams that ranked in points COBRA finished in an overall outstanding 11th place. During the four-day event the COBRA swimmers medaled and came away with top results. Congratulations to all who participated and to the coaching staff for an exceptional weekend. Listed below are your Ontario Junior Provincial medalists that represented The COBRA Swim Club and the City of Brampton in the 2010 / 2011 short course swim season.
14-year-old Paige Hall led the team with 5 medals. She captured gold in the 200m backstroke, three silver medals in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle and a bronze in the 400m individual medley. 12-year-old Cierra Glysz finished with a gold medal in the 50m freestyle and a bronze in the 100m freestyle. 9-year-old Breyahna Tyme captured two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke. To complete the girls winning streak Sophie Cieplucha also earned two bronze medals in the 200m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley.
In the male category 14-year-old Stefano Gardiman secured a gold medal in the 200m backstroke and two silver medals in the 100m backstroke and 400m individual medley. 14-year-old Danai Sisouphanh also collected two silver medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke. To end the weekend Daniel Manson added to the medal count with two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.

COBRA Swimmers Outshine in Brantford
The COBRA national swim team began their short course season by attending the 2010 Swim International meet in Brantford this past November 12th, 13th and 14th. The swimmers kicked off the season achieving personal best times and top finishes in all the events. Congratulations to head coach Bill O’Toole and all of the COBRA swimmers for an outstanding start to the 2010 / 2011 season. The following are your top finishers.
In the 13-year-old category Danicca Sinanan finished 2nd in the 200m backstroke and 3rd in the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle. Danai Sisouphanh had an outstanding weekend finishing 1st overall in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke, 200m and 400m individual medley. Michael Neves finished 1st in the 400 freestyle, 2nd in the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
In the 14-year-old category Paige Hall finished 1st in the 200m backstroke and 2nd in the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle. Bavindeep Basra completed her weekend finishing 2nd in the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley. Finally in the 14-year-old category Stefano Gardiman finished 1st in the 100m and 200 backstroke and 3rd in the 200m and 400 freestyle and the 200m and 400m individual medley.
16 year old Brooke Hall picked up a 1st place in the 200m butterfly and a 2nd place in the 100m butterfly. Sophie Cieplucha had a great weekend finishing 1st in the 200m individual medley and 2nd in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and 400 individual medley.
In the 17 and 18-year-old category Victoria Thicke-Rattray acquired two 1st place finishes in the 100m and 200m backstroke. Esther Haines picked up a 2nd place finish in the 400 individual medley and two 3rd place finishes in the 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle.

COBRA Swimmers Shine at Newmarket
The COBRA Swim Club athletes attended the 2010 Metro Fall Invitational Swim Meet hosted by the Newmarket Stingrays Swim Club November 12th to the 14th. The weekend was an exhibition of the top swimming talent in the region and COBRA showed off their best athletes at the event. Congratulations to the coaching staff and all who participated in achieving best times and top overall finishes.
Here are your winners: 11 year old Cierra Glysz had a superb start to the short course season finishing with six 1st place medals in the 400m freestyle, 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m and 200m butterfly and the 50m breaststroke. Kiara Seow completed her weekend with a 1st place finish in the 200m freestyle, 200m individual medley and a 3rd place in the 100m breaststroke. Connor Beals secured a 1st place in the 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley and a 2nd place in the 100m breaststroke. His brother Andrew Beals collected two 3rd place finishes in the 200m and 400m freestyle. 9-year-old Breyahna Tyme finished 2nd in the 100m backstroke and 3rd in the 50m freestyle.
12-year-old Tessa Cieplucha finished 1st in the 400m freestyle and 3rd in the 200m freestyle. Amanda Campbell also had a 1st place finish in the 200m freestyle. Hayley Lineham finished 2nd in the 200m freestyle and 3rd in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly. Vivianna Choi earned a 3rd place finish in the 50m breaststroke and Sabrina Phongphilack also earned a 3rd place in the 200m individual medley.
In the 13-year-old category Nimrata Virk finished 1st in the 200m butterfly and 3rd in the 200m and 400m freestyle and 3rd in the 200m backstroke. Sarah Maddock finished 2nd in the 200m breaststroke. Navraj Kalra completed the weekend with three 2nd place finishes in the 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley and two 3rd place finishes in the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke. Qile Wang finished 3rd in the 50m backstroke.
14 year old Austin Learning finished 1st in the 200m individual medley and Jacob Ahola secured a 3rd place in the 100 butterfly. Katrina Bhagaloo also finished 3rd in the 100m breaststroke. Finally, 15-year-old Courtney Douglas collected a 1st place in the 50m freestyle and Kunal Kumar finished 1st in the 50m freestyle.

COBRA Cash Challenge
The COBRA Swim Club kicked off the 2011 year by hosting their annual Cash Challenge Swim meet, which was held on January 7th to the 9th this past month. COBRA’s senior, junior and novice swimmers attended the three-day event and finished with top performances against other club in the region. Congratulations to the swimmers and coaches for their outstanding work. Here are your gold medalists from the weekend.
In the female 10 and under category Alisha Learning finished with gold in the 400m freestyle. In the female 11 years of age category Cierra Glysz started off COBRA’s victory finishing 1st in the 50m, 100m, 400m & 800m freestyle, 50m & 100m backstroke, 50m & 100m breaststroke, 50m, 100m & 200m butterfly. Kiara Seow captured gold in the 200m freestyle. In the 11 year old boys category Connor Beals finished 1st in the 400m individual medley.
In the female 12 year old category Tessa Cieplucha had an exceptional weekend capturing seven 1st place finishes in the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 800m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 200m and 400m individual medley. Vivianna Choi finished with two gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke. Hayley Lineham was far behind capturing 1st in the 50m and 400m freestyle and 100m and 200m butterfly.
In the 13-year-old category Liam Ryan attained two 1st place finishes in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly. Navraj Kalra had four terrific 1st place finishes in the 50m and 200m backstroke, 50m and 100m freestyle. Danicca Sinanan had marvelous performances which got her seven 1st place finishes in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke, 100m and 200m butterfly and the 200m individual medley. Bayley Dalbec held her own finishing 1st in the 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 200 freestyle and 400m individual medley. Nimrata Virk captured gold in the 200m freestyle, Sarah Maddock finished 1st in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and the 400m freestyle.
In the 14-year-old category Stefano Gardiman had a great weekend securing nine 1st place finishes in the following events, 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke. Danai Sisouphanh secured two 1st finishes in the 50m and 200m breaststroke. Austin Learning finished 1st in the 400m individual medley. Aidan Zagar won a 1st place in the 400m freestyle. Daniel Manson finished 1st in the 100 breaststroke. In the girls events Edna Banjanovic also had an outstanding meet finishing first in seven of her events, 50m 100m and 200m butterfly, 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m freestyle. Paige Hall captured gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley and 200m butterfly. Stefanie Pickering came in 1st place in the 100m breaststroke. Natasha Cyr finished 1st in the 400m freestyle and Katrina Bhagaloo won two 1st place finishes in the 50m and 200 breaststroke.
In the 15 years and older categories Myles Zagar started off the 15 year old males by winning 1st in the 800m freetyle. In the female category Courtney Douglas finished 1st in the 50m freestyle. 16 year old Brooke Hall finished 1st in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly and 100m backstroke. Connor Maddock captured three 1st place finishes in the 50m and 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley. 17 year old Victoria Thicke-Rattray completed her weekend with three 1st place finishes in the 50m and 200m backstroke and 100m freestyle. Finally 18 year old Esther Haines finished the weekend wins for COBRA with six 1st place finishes in 200m and 800 freestyle, 50m 100m and 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley.
